The European Council decided, in agreement with United Kingdom, to extend further the to-year period until 31 January 2020.
This means that a transition period until 31 December 2020 may be agreed, but this is not not certain in this stage,The European Council therefore called on the Commission, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and the Member States to continue the work on preparedness at all levels for the consequences of the United Kingdom's withdrawal, taking into account all possible outcomes. They set out the consequences of the withdrawal of the United Kingdom from the European Union without a formal, ratified agreement between the United Kingdom and the European Union.
In the meantime, United Kingdom stay a EU member with all rights and obligations according Statement of EU.
