At the Slovenian Customs Day 2025, held on March 13 at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Slovenia, Mag. Boris Kastelic, Director of the Customs Administration at the Financial Administration of the Republic of Slovenia (FURS), presented key current developments in customs.
In his presentation, he highlighted the latest changes in customs procedures and upcoming legislative developments at the European Union level. Special attention was given to the digitalization of customs systems and their impact on the economy. He emphasized the importance of automation and new technological solutions for faster and more efficient customs procedures.
Among the central topics were also adjustments to the Slovenian customs system within the EU Customs Union reform and the impact of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). Mag. Kastelic outlined the challenges businesses face in meeting new requirements and emphasized FURS’s role in supporting the economy during the transition period.
His presentation was highly informative and provided insights into the future of customs operations in Slovenia and the EU as a whole.
